Kristen, welcome to the “LoveFilm”. It is great to have you here!
Thanks
After the tremendous success of “Twightlight” have you ever thought about this success ‘cos it seems you’re quite surprised by a lot of attention to the film, the origin…
Right! Eh, nobody really expected to be such a big … nobody expected a film that we all sort of we do together, we work on everything that we are having to. To become a franchise. Franchises are usually… as an actor smth you go … is something that you go “eh, no way!” But I found that there is no difference. I mean like, there is a difference if there is something wrong with you, you should not be acting. You never make a movie, because you think it’s gonna be popular and cool.
No.
So.
And a great thing about a “New Moon” is obviously after kind of “a happy ending” of “Twightlight” and, you know, it does pretty thought - love is never easy and ballade Bella and Jacob will always be in a complecated situation. And a great thing about ballade is that she is not a damsel in distrate, she’s a very strong character. I can imagine she’s an awful fun to play.
She’s very soft applicating and totally awkward and different and she knows that. But she actually doesn’t mind it. She becomes comfortable with that. She likes the difference. Um, and at the same time, why I really love her is that she makes a lot of mistakes, but they are never coming from anyone that’s not real or not true.
Eh, she’s very honest character!
Eh, and so when she misses up, she’s the first one to say like “OK, I am sorry, but I am not ashamed of it!”, you know.
And with “The New Moon” there was a new director Chris Weitz. Was it different working with a new director?
The consideration that needs to happen in New Moon and the real growth needs a lot of ... you need to be old and wise, you can’t be thrusting youself at smth that you don’t know about.
Sure!
So, Chris was perfect for it and he’s, he’s… the story makes you feel that there is nothing like you never make a mistake. So, I think “The New Moon” brings a little bit more, because he gave us the opportunity, he trusted the actors, he gave us the opportunity to really find the scenes instead of heading every emotional bit and getting the lines right. It’s like…
Sure!
Screw lines, you just feel it.
He really felt like he got the raiments and the actions and they can be beautifully balanced. Which is quite difficult thing to do, but he’s done it. It’s kind of head –on-head!
Totally! And that I don’t know all the CGI’s stuff, the fact that I was not aware - I did not feel that I was making one of these CGI Movie and that was because of Chris, I always knew that I was reacting to…, like even if you … it was like a bubble moving across the room and I must be watching a fight happen. But he’s great at this stuff. And I’ve known nothing about that.
Kristen, thank you so much talking to us!
Eh! Thanks!
